Are you up to the challenge? Would you like to join John Pritchard on this epic journey and help raise $1m for Right To Play?  If you would like to row one or more two-day stages of the Mississippi Million – The Great River Rowed Challenge, you’re in the right place. Joining the team involves two steps.

Joining The Challenge

Step 1: You need to apply for a place. Places on the Challenge are in high demand and limited. Simply fill in the form on this page to apply. Check out the route and choose the stage(s) you’d like to row.

Step 2: Once we have your application and our team has allocated and filled all the spaces, we will be in touch in early 2014 to confirm your place at which point you’ll need to register officially, fill in a few forms, commit to raising at least £10,000 per 2 day stage and pay a nominal entry fee. Amongst other things, you will receive some state of the art, technical sportswear kit that you can start training in!

What’s Involved?

Most stages are 2 days. If you’d like to row more than this – please state this in the ‘notes’ box at the bottom of the form.

You should be able to row 30 miles per day by August 2014.

The fundraising target is £10,000 per two-day stage of the challenge, we ask that this be your minimum fundraising target.

The entry fee is £300.00 – payable on registration.

There will be two skiffs rowing together. Each skiff has room for two rowers and a cox. John Pritchard will captain one skiff and an experienced rower will captain the other. The two remaining seats (one in each skiff) are for you – the Challenge Crew.

You will need to make your own travel arrangements to the start destination of your challenge. We’ll advise the exact location in due course along with all other information you’ll need.

A number of training days are planned to take place at The Skiff Club, Teddington, Middlesex throughout 2014 – details of these will be available at the start of January. These are not mandatory, though we’d encourage you to come along if you’re in the UK and available.

Filling in the Application Form

Please indicate, in order of preference (1st, 2nd and 3rd), which stage you’d like to row. Slots will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

If you have general availability, eg. for the whole of the month of September, please state this in the ‘notes’ box.

We will let you know which stage you’ve been selected for in January after which formal registration and signature of terms and conditions will apply together with payment of the registration fee.

We’ll keep you updated with progress over the coming months.

The information you supply will stay with us to help plan the challenge and keep you informed. Your information won’t be sold or shared. View our Privacy Policy.

Thank you
